On October 29, 2014 the Center for Clean Energy Innovation and the House Technology Transfer Caucus will be hosting a panel of experts to discuss NIH’s NCATS program and its impact on the tech transfer policy debate.
One of the biggest challenges for federally funded research and technology is bridging the development “Valley of Death.” Despite their tremendous potential impact, many promising discoveries die during development due to their insufficient advancements, which detract private investment. For rare or neglected diseases, these treatments could literally be the difference between life and death.
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) was established by the National Institutes of Health to improve the process of translating scientific and clinical discoveries into interventions that improve human health. The result has been high impact R&D partnerships that are revolutionizing how government agencies can spur innovation and secure investment into the federal research system.
The panel of leading experts will discuss the NCATS tech transfer model, successful case studies, and lessons learned for other government agencies. Panelists will include:
